Chelsea's next transfer miracle revealed as Blues set €117m asking price
Chelsea have set an asking price of nearly €117 million (£100m) for Pedro Neto amid interest from Al-Hilal and Manchester City.
The Portugal international has been a key player for the Blues since his arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2024, but he is one of several stars who could be sold on a permanent deal before Transfer Deadline Day on 1 September.
Neto started as a right wing-back during Chelsea’s final pre-season friendly against Real Sociedad on Saturday, with summer signing Marco Palestra on the opposite side, however his future at the club remains uncertain.
Xabi Alonso’s side have strengthened their attack with the signings of Geovany Quenda, Morgan Rogers, Emmanuel Emegha and Danny Welbeck this summer, while Malo Gusto, Pep Chavarria and the aforementioned Palestra are all capable of playing at wing-back if the Blues opt to deploy a 3-4-2-1 system.
As a result, Neto has been omitted from the club’s list of ‘untouchable’ players and it’s understood that a sale will be considered if a suitable bid is lodged before the end of the summer window.
Man City have been linked with a possible move for several weeks, with Enzo Maresca keen to reunite with the 26-year-old amid rumours that Savinho is set to join Tottenham Hotspur, while Neto has reportedly already agreed personal terms with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.
However, Chelsea aren’t willing to let him leave this close to the start of the new season unless they receive an offer in the region of €117m (£100m), according to BBC Sport, The Daily Mail and Football.London.
Neto, whose Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at just €51.7m, remains highly-rated by Chelsea staff, but a sale is likely to take place if the Blues’ asking price is met.
Analysis: €117m Pedro Neto sale would be a transfer miracle
Neto is undoubtedly a talented player and he has played a key role for Chelsea since his arrival, but he is not worth anything close to €117m.
His ETV of €51.7m is a far more reasonable price given he only scored five goals in 38 English top flight games last season, and reflects his standing as a good, but not outstanding, Premier League winger.
Neto has shown glimpses of his potential in a Chelsea shirt, and he would certainly be a useful squad player under Alonso, but a sale wouldn’t be particularly harmful to the Blues and if they are able to tempt any interested suitors into a €117m deal, it would go down as one of their best ever sales.
In Estevao Willian, Chelsea already have their next superstar right winger, and Jamie Gittens’ encouraging form in pre-season, in addition to the signing of Quenda, suggests that Chelsea may not even be required to sign a like-for-like replacement if Neto is sold.
Who else could leave Chelsea this summer?
Neto is one of several stars who could leave Chelsea before the end of the window, with the west London giants now prioritising player exits as they look to trim down the first-team squad at Alonso’s disposal.
Nicolas Jackson, Liam Delap, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Mykhailo Mudryk, Mamadou Sarr, Marc Guiu, Caleb Wiley, Deivid Washington and Gabriel Slonina have all been tipped to depart before Deadline Day, either on loan or permanently, while the club may also sell Enzo Fernandez and Malo Gusto.
In addition, Chelsea are expected to finalise loan deals for academy duo Reggie Walsh and Shumaira Mheuka.
