Michael Carrick’s side have already completed the signings of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow so far this summer, but they remain eager to add further reinforcements ahead of the new season and Sarr has emerged as their latest target.

The 28-year-old scored 21 goals and provided two assists in 45 games across all competitions for Crystal Palace last term, and he continued that form at the World Cup, notching four times as Senegal reached the round of 32.

Sarr was named the Europa Conference League Player of the Year following his exploits en route to Palace’s first ever European trophy last season, and he has now been added to Man Utd’s transfer wishlist ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

That is according to a report from French publication Foot Mercato, who claim that Man Utd are among the clubs to have enquired about Sarr’s potential availability this summer as they look to lure him to Old Trafford before Deadline Day.

It’s understood that Sarr is a boyhood Man Utd fan and he is keen to explore a possible transfer if the Red Devils are able to finalise a transfer fee with Crystal Palace.

Sarr’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €37.4 million, although his contract isn’t due to expire until 2029 and Palace are therefore expected to demand a fairly sizeable fee for the Senegal forward.

Analysis: Where will Ismaila Sarr fit in at Man Utd?

As proven by his numbers last season, Sarr is a goalscorer rather than a creator and his style of play perfectly suits Crystal Palace’s counter-attacking style.

However, at Man Utd, who look primed to play possession-heavy football this term, he may struggle far more.

Sarr would also face significant competition from Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo for a place in Carrick’s preferred starting XI, although he would provide cover for Benjamin Sesko up front, having been deployed in that role on a number of occasions for Senegal and Palace.

The 28-year-old is a fantastic player, however his specific skillset doesn’t appear as though it will suit Man Utd’s system, and the presence of both Amad and Mbeumo suggests that a deal is unlikely to happen unless one of those players is sold before the window shuts.
