Chelsea Transfer News Today: €82m Alex Scott offer as deal announced
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Chelsea transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Alex Scott, Mykhailo Mudryk and Hudson Sands.
Alex Scott offer
Chelsea are set to submit an improved offer worth €82 million (£70m) for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, according to CaughtOffside.
The 22-year-old has emerged as a top target for Chelsea this summer and they are ready to re-enter negotiations over a deal despite seeing an initial approach knocked back by Marco Rose’s side.
Bournemouth have no intention of allowing Scott to depart on a permanent deal, however Chelsea remain determined to bring him to Stamford Bridge, despite the imminent arrival of Jordan Henderson from Brentford.
Mudryk eligible to play again
Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk can return to professional football with "immediate effect" after the Football Association (FA) announced his doping case has been resolved.
In a statement on Friday, Chelsea said they were “pleased” the case has been resolved and their focus is now on “supporting Misha’s reintegration into the squad and helping him resume his career”.
The statement reads: “Chelsea FC acknowledges today's announcement by The Football Association confirming the resolution of the anti-doping proceedings involving Mykhailo Mudryk.
“We have always supported Misha throughout this process while fully respecting the integrity of the anti-doping system and the legal process.
“Everyone at the Club now looks forward to helping Misha return to full fitness, back into the squad and back onto the pitch.”
Mudryk is now expected to join Chelsea's pre-season camp in Hong Kong on Sunday.
Hudson Sands secures loan move
Chelsea academy goalkeeper Hudson Sands has signed a new three-year contract at the club and immediately joined Dulwich Hamlet on loan for the 2026-27 campaign.
Sands made nine appearances for Chelsea’s U18 side last season and his loan move to the Isthmian League Premier Division side will be his first experience of senior football.
Trevoh Chalobah latest
Chelsea remain in talks with Serie A side Como over a deal for Trevoh Chalobah as they continue their bid to sell the England star on a permanent deal this summer.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X: “Como keep insisting to try to get Trevoh Chalobah deal done with Chelsea as negotiations continue.
“€30m guaranteed package being discussed, personal terms remain agreed. Chelsea open to sell with talks underway.”
£10m fine and suspended transfer ban
Chelsea have received a £10m fine and a suspended two-window transfer ban after self-reporting potential historical financial rule breaches in 2022.
BlueCo flagged the issues upon their arrival as the new Chelsea owners and the FA have now confirmed the club’s punishment.
“Chelsea FC admitted to the 74 breaches of FA Rule E1.2 prior to a hearing and an independent Regulatory Commission imposed a six-point deduction, which was to be suspended until 30 June 2027, and a £10 million fine,” an FA statement read.
“The club appealed against the suspended points deduction and an independent Appeal Board allowed the appeal and set aside this sanction following a further hearing. In its place, the Appeal Board imposed a registration ban for two complete and consecutive transfer windows which is suspended until 30 June 2027.
“The £10 million fine imposed by the Regulatory Commission was not subject to appeal and the full amount will be invested into grassroots football.
“The Regulatory Commission and Appeal Board’s written reasons for their decisions can be found below.”
Lewis Hall wanted
Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall remains Chelsea’s dream left-back signing, according to Blues transfer insider Simon Phillips.
The England international progressed through the Chelsea academy before his move to Newcastle and the west London outfit are keen to re-sign him amid their struggles to finalise a deal for Rayo Vallecano star Pep Chavarria.
However, Manchester United are also interested in Hall and they are expected to intensify their pursuit of his signature over the coming weeks as they look to land a competitor to Luke Shaw for the left-back berth at Old Trafford.
Xabi Alonso drops hint
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that he only wants four or five centre-backs in his first-team squad next season, with a number of stars set to depart before Deadline Day.
The €60.7 million signing of Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix was officially announced on Thursday, and Chelsea are now expected to turn their attention to player sales following the arrival of the Frenchman.
The Blues currently have 10 senior central defenders on their books - Levi Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, Josh Acheampong, Mamadou Sarr, Aaron Anselmino, and Lacroix - and Alonso has admitted that he wants this number to drastically reduce before the summer transfer window closes in England on 1 September.
When asked how many centre-backs he wants in his squad next season ahead of his side’s pre-season friendly against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, Alonso admitted: “Four or five. Is that accurate enough?”
Benoit Badiashile talks
Napoli are progressing in talks with Chelsea over a possible summer move for wantaway defender Benoit Badiashile, as per reports in Italy.
The Frenchman, 25, only made 16 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea last season and after being omitted from the Blues’ final eight Premier League matches of the campaign, he is expected to depart before Deadline Day.
It has been widely reported that Chelsea want to sanction a permanent sale this summer, but the Serie A outfit are currently locked in negotiations over an initial loan deal for the 25-year-old, as per Nicolo Schira.
The Italian transfer reporter posted on X: “Talks in progress for Benoit Badiashile to Napoli from Chelsea on loan with the option to buy for a total package of €20-23M. The centre-back has given his availability to join Napoli.”
