Chelsea may hold the key to Manchester United's ability to sign West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville.

The Netherlands international is fielding widespread. Summerville impressed at the World Cup, and numerous clubs are ready to sign him from the relegated Hammers this summer.

Both Chelsea and Man Utd have been linked with the 24-year-old. Reports previously suggested that West Ham would only consider a sale for a fee in the region of €60 million, but there have been some rumours that he has a lower release clause.

Whatever the case, it is clear that there could be movement for Summerville in the coming days and weeks. The interest in him is not just limited to the Premier League, either. PSG have reportedly also explored a move, while AS Roma are now the latest club to join the race.

In fact, according to Di Marzio, Summerville's representatives are already in Rome - but not because of him. They are also the agents of Danilho Doekhi, who is set to join Lazio on a free transfer from Union Berlin. Once that is wrapped up, they will hold talks with Roma.

Summerville-Garnacho domino?

The interest from the Giallorossi is very intriguing because they are also currently in discussions with Chelsea over Alejandro Garnacho and Strasbourg over Diego Moreira. Both clubs are owned by BlueCo, so Roma are effectively talking to the same people.

Offers have been made for both players, with a transfer for Moreira currently looking the most likely. Chelsea want a permanent deal for Garnacho, while Roma would prefer an initial loan with the ability to purchase him next year.

Because of these talks, Chelsea have a chance to influence the future of Summerville. By offloading Garnacho to Roma, they would eliminate a competitor for the signing of the Dutchman.

Alternatively, by refusing to compromise on their Garnacho stance and forcing Roma to pursue Summerville instead, they could potentially prevent Man Utd from striking a deal for the West Ham star.

That said, if the Hammers stick to their valuation of Summerville, then it is difficult to see Roma striking a deal. They can't pay €60m for a player if they are already struggling to meet Chelsea's €50m asking price for Garnacho.

At this stage, it is not clear who Roma will end up signing. However, their transfer talks are heating up, and we could soon see a significant winger domino.
