Arsenal agree record deal for Tzolis – David Ornstein
Arsenal have reached an agreement to make their third signing of the summer, with a €40 million deal being confirmed with Club Brugge for winger Christos Tzolis.
The Gunners have been relatively quiet so far this summer, having so far only brought in backup goalkeeper Illan Meslier and turning Piero Hincapie’s loan into a permanent deal.
However, Leandro Trossard completed his €20m move to Besiktas this week and that has paved the way for Mikel Arteta to bring in one of his top targets in Tzolis, having pursued the forward for many weeks.
According to David Ornstein and The Athletic, Arsenal are in the process of finalising a move for Tzolis after agreeing a €40m fee with Club Brugge.
Tzolis is understood to have agreed personal terms over a contract until 2031, with the 24-year-old desperate to return to English football where he had a stint with Norwich between 2021 and 2024.
The Greek international recorded 22 goals and 29 assists in all competitions for Brugge last season, helping his side win the Pro League title and being named the Belgian Footballer of the Year in the process.
Arsenal set to seal record deal for Tzolis as part of blockbuster summer
Tzolis has been long-admired by Arsenal and they are believed to have watched him on numerous occasions in recent months, leading to their strong interest.
The likes of Atletico Madrid, Dortmund and Roma were also credited with an interest but Arsenal pushed the hardest for Tzolis and got the player’s priority over a move that will constitute a record sale for Brugge.
The Gunners initially entered talks for Tzolis in June but they were waiting until Trossard’s involvement in the World Cup with Belgium before being able to finalise his exit and sign the Brugge man as a replacement.
Arsenal are still believed to be keen on purusing a deal for Morgan Rogers after England’s exit from the 2026 World Cup and this deal is not expected to impact their chase for the Aston Villa star.
Arteta’s side also reportedly made an enquiry for Juventus wonderkid Kenan Yildiz but were informed that he was not for sale, which led to Tzolis being identified as an alternative and a deal for the winger is now close to completion.
