Man Utd Transfer News Today: Romano gives 'here we go' to deal with England star ready to join
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Mateus Fernandes, Lewis Hall and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Hall ‘open’ to Man Utd move
That is according to The Sun, who report that Hall is open to completing a move to Man Utd before the end of the 2026 summer transfer window.
It’s claimed that Hall wants to play for a Champions League club next season, while he believes that he missed out on England’s World Cup squad due to how Eddie Howe managed him during the final stages of the campaign.
As a result, he is exploring his options and it’s understood that Man Utd are among the clubs keen to secure his signature.
Fernandes deal in jeopardy as Tottenham advance in talks
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham have been given the ‘full green light’ to move forward with a deal after Fernandes accepted their personal terms, with Spurs allegedly willing to offer the 21-year-old ‘substantially higher wages’ than United.
Tottenham are now described as being in ‘advanced talks’ with West Ham over a club-record deal that could end up being worth the full £85m (€99m) asking price but with £65m (€75m) up front and the rest in add-ons.
However, United are not believed to be out of the race yet and Fernandes is thought to favour a move to Old Trafford, with the coming days said to be ‘critical’ if the Red Devils do look to hijack Tottenham’s deal from being completed.
Romano gives Tchouameni update
“The situation remains unchanged, with two major obstacles still in place,” Romano said. “The first issue is salary. Tchouameni earns a significant wage, and at this stage that financial commitment does not align with Man Utd's current plans.
“From a football perspective, Man Utd rate Tchouameni extremely highly. They consider him an outstanding player and would be very interested in pursuing the opportunity. However, Real Madrid have not opened the door to a potential departure.
“As of today, neither Man Utd nor the player's representatives have received any indication from Real Madrid that the midfielder could be available.
“Should that situation change later in the summer, Man Utd would be prepared to assess the opportunity because they greatly admire the player. For now, however, the salary issue remains a challenge and Real Madrid have not signalled any intention to let him leave.”
Onana set for Man Utd exit
Andre Onana is set to leave Man Utd again this summer after agreeing to re-join Trabzonspor on loan, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Onana is not considered part of United’s first team plans anymore and the club are desperate to get his wages off their books, which led to the 30-year-old joining Trabzonspor on loan last year.
The Turkish side have been in talks with United over a second loan deal, according to A Spor, and Romano backed this up after Trabzonspor agreed to pay the loan fee required.
Onana is understood to have agreed to return to Trabzonspor, with no chance of him being reintegrated back into United’s squad, and a deal is likely to be closed in the coming weeks.
