Arsenal Transfer News Today: Morgan Rogers bombshell as fee agreement revealed
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Arsenal transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Morgan Rogers and Jeremy Monga.
Morgan Rogers contract agreed
Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement in principle over contract terms with Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers as they look to bring him to north London this summer.
The England international has emerged as the Gunners’ top target for the summer and they are locked in talks over a deal, as confirmed by FootballTransfers.
We understand that Rogers is only interested in joining Arsenal or Bayern Munich before the end of the 2026 summer transfer window, with Chelsea therefore expected to miss out on his signature despite significant speculation linking them with a move for the ex-Middlesbrough star.
The Guardian have confirmed that Arsenal have made Rogers their priority transfer target, while transfer reporter Nicolo Schira has now revealed that personal terms have been finalised between Mikel Arteta’s side and the Englishman.
He posted on X: “Agreement in principle between for a contract until 2031 Morgan Rogers and Arsenal, which are now ready to open talks with Aston Villa to sign him.”
Despite Arsenal's progress, Sky Sports has now cast doubt on the feasibility of a deal, with Villa said to have informed Rogers' suitors that he is not for sale. This is a complete 180 on what was previously reported. Only a large offer north of €120 million could change their stance.
Jeremy Monga fee agreement
Arsenal have reportedly reached a transfer fee agreement with Leicester City for England U19 winger Jeremy Monga.
The 16-year-old has already finalised personal terms with Mikel Arteta’s side ahead of a high-profile summer switch, and it’s now revealed that Arsenal have finally agreed a fee with the Foxes too.
That is according to talkSPORT, who report that Monga is set to move to the Emirates Stadium for a transfer fee in the region of €11.6 million (£10m).
Rumours had suggested that a tribunal may be required to determine the level of compensation Leicester would receive for Monga, however talkSPORT report this is unlikely to happen, with a fee now agreed between the two clubs.
Julian Alvarez hope
Atletico Madrid have reacted strongly to Julian Alvarez’s public plea to leave the club by declaring there is ‘no amount of money’ that could convince them to sell their star man to Barcelona.
Alvarez stunned Atletico on Monday night by admitting he had asked the club to ‘fulfil his dream’ by granting him a transfer this summer, amid a desire to move to rivals Barcelona.
In response, Atletico sources told AS in a statement: “We’ve seen how Barcelona operates in the past. There is no amount Barcelona can pay for Julián, and he will not be transferred to Barcelona. Either they pay the €500 million release clause or nothing.”
Atletico will now file a formal complaint to FIFA about Barcelona’s conduct, adding: "Everyone knows they’re a dishonest club. But they've run into a club that won't let them get away with it."
Arsenal could therefore be handed the opportunity to pounce.
Green light to sign ‘next Alexis Sanchez’
Arsenal’s interest in FC Midtjylland winger Dario Osorio has been confirmed by the club’s technical director Kristian Kjaer as Mikel Arteta’s side look to pursue a deal for the second consecutive summer.
He told The Evening Standard: “We know that Arsenal have been looking into Osorio, but we also know other clubs in the Premier League have done the same. I also think it is well known that Bournemouth looked into him historically. There are other clubs in the Premier League also looking into him.
“In my opinion, he serves the Premier League very, very good because he has a hard-working mentality. His defensive transition runs are amazing, his top speed is amazing. Left-footed right winger can go to the right and to the left of his direct opponent.
“He has the full package, seen as the next Alexis Sanchez in Chile. I can see him making a difference in the Premier League.”
Amid interest in Osorio, Kjaer has hinted that a transfer will be permitted this summer if a suitable bid is lodged.
“I think what we are good at is to have an eye for identifying potential that fits Midtjylland's style of play,” he said. “We believe we will [also have players who] fit the top four leagues in the world because that is also our dream. And our idea is to sell players to the biggest leagues, especially also the Premier League.”
Piero Hincapie latest
Real Madrid remain in the market for additional defensive reinforcements and they have enquired about a possible deal for Piero Hincapie, as per ESPN.
The Ecuador international spent last season on loan at Arsenal and a full agreement has already been reached for the deal to become permanent for a fee of €52m this summer.
However, Real Madrid want to sign him despite the recent additions of Marc Cucurella and Ibrahima Konate, with Jose Mourinho wanting a left-footed central defender who can also play at left-back.
Mikel Arteta wants Ibrahim Maza
Arsenal have decided to make a “strong move” for Bayer Leverkusen youngster Ibrahim Maza, according to Fichajes.
The Algeria international caught the eye for Leverkusen last season, registering seven goal contributions in 28 Bundesliga games, and Mikel Arteta reportedly wants to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Maza only joined Leverkusen from Hertha Berlin last year and his current contract at the club therefore isn’t due to expire until 2030.
