10 players who could join Man City this summer
Manchester City could be set for yet another transformative window after this season.
There is major uncertainty at the Etihad heading into the summer, mainly concerning the managerial position. Pep Guardiola is still under contract for another year, but it is widely believed that he could call it quits and take a break from football after 10 years at the helm of Man City.
This will have a major effect on Man City's squad, which has undergone a radical shift in recent transfer windows. The Etihad side have invested heavily to replace ageing stars, and this is likely to continue this summer.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through 10 players who could join Man City this summer...
Tino Livramento (Newcastle)
Starting at the back, the right-back position is one that has caused Man City headaches for years. Guardiola has played without a traditional right-back for some time now, often using Matheus Nunes and Rico Lewis as makeshift solutions.
This problem is set to be addressed this summer, and Man City have numerous targets, chief among them Newcastle star Tino Livramento, who is the club's top right-back target despite his injury problems.
Pedro Porro (Tottenham)
Tottenham full-back Pedro Porro has also been linked with a move to the Etihad, as there is a belief that he would be an ideal addition to Man City's system.
The Spain international could be keen to take the next step in his career after Tottenham's recent struggles in the Premier League, but prising him away from Spurs could be pricey.
Jules Kounde (Barcelona)
Reports in Spain, as they do every year, have suggested that various Premier League clubs are interested in Barcelona defender Jules Kounde, who has been linked with a move to England since his time at Sevilla.
It is claimed that Man City are among the clubs monitoring the France international and that the Blaugrana could be convinced to sell at the right price. Kounde continues to insist that he is a centre-back and not a right-back.
Andrea Cambiaso (Juventus)
Man City explored a move for versatile Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso in January 2025 and were widely tipped to reignite their pursuit of the Italy international that summer.
This didn't really materialise, but Cambiaso continues to be linked with a potential move to Manchester ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window. Barcelona are also said to be interested in the player, who can feature on the left and the right.
Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest)
Bolstering the midfield is also a priority for Man City, with Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson believed to be the club's top target. The England star is also being chased by rivals Man Utd, but it is understood that he favours a move to the Etihad.
Forest are reluctant to sell their prized asset and have briefed the media that Anderson will cost well in excess of €100m. However, some reporters have claimed that there are mechanisms in his contract that allow him to leave for significantly less than that.
Sandro Tonali (Newcastle)
Newcastle superstar Sandro Tonali is another midfielder on Man City's radar, and the situation with the Italy international is quite similar to Anderson in that he is being chased by numerous clubs, and Newcastle don't want to sell.
Arsenal and Man Utd have also been associated with the former AC Milan star, while it is believed that Tonali will cost at least €100m this summer. That is before taking into account his massive wages.
Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace)
Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton could be a much more attainable target, as the England midfielder is said to "expect" that the Eagles will allow him to leave the club for a Champions League participant this summer.
This means that Wharton is likely to be significantly more affordable than some of the other names on Man City's shortlist, though he, too, is being chased by various other attractive suitors.
Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest)
Besides Anderson, Nottingham Forest are also braced for fresh summer interest in Morgan Gibbs-White, despite the fact that he penned a new long-term contract with the club last year.
Gibbs-White remained at the City Ground in 2025 when Forest threatened to take legal action against Tottenham for a supposed breach of confidentiality regarding his release clause, and they will likely put up a stiff fight again this time around.
Kennet Eichhorn (Hertha BSC)
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Man City are among the clubs interested in Hertha BSC wonderkid Kennet Eichhorn, who could be signed this summer, though he would not be an immediate reinforcement.
Due to his age, the teenager will not be able to head to the UK until 2027, but he would be a shrewd signing for the future. He has been the biggest revelation of the 2025/26 2. Bundesliga season and is available for just €12m.
Christian Kofane (Bayer Leverkusen)
Signing a striker can never be a priority when you have Erling Haaland tied down to a 10-year contract, but Man City are nevertheless paying close attention to a player who could be Europe's next great No.9.
Bayer Leverkusen sensation Christian Kofane is being scouted by the Cityzens, as well as Arsenal, Liverpool and various other clubs. Leverkusen are not planning to sell the Cameroon international for less than €60m this summer.
