Fabrizio Romano makes major Elliot Anderson transfer announcement
Fabrizio Romano has provided a major update on the future of Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson, who continues to be linked with a huge summer move.
Manchester United and Manchester City are two of the clubs most closely associated with the England international star, but according to Romano, Pep Guardiola’s side have made a decisive move ahead of their rivals.
The football transfer expert has confirmed that Anderson’s representatives have started talks with the Premier League title contenders.
Elliot Anderson transfer latest
Speaking on YouTube, Romano revealed: “Manchester City are the club pushing hardest for him right now. They’ve been in advanced discussions with the player’s agents to understand the terms of a potential deal - though nothing is yet agreed.
“City see Anderson as a priority midfield target for the summer, while Manchester United also admire the player and are following the situation closely. Expect both clubs to be active in the midfield market in what’s shaping up to be an extremely busy window.”
Forest demand €80m for Anderson
While City are advancing for the player, one club that has been ruled out of the race for Anderson is Bayern Munich, with Christian Falk revealing that Forest’s €80 million (£69m) asking price out of their range.
“It is NOT TRUE: Bayern Munich are interested in Elliot Anderson,” Falk told Bayern Insider.
“He’s too expensive! It’s said that he’ll cost €80m [£68.9m], which is just too much money for Bayern Munich, and they don’t need a player in this position.”
Anderson’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV), which is calculated using hundreds of in-game data points, stands at €47.7m.
Is City the right move?
While it is City who are more actively pushing to sign Anderson, data analysis firm SciSports believes that the 23-year-old would be better off moving to United.
His Club Fit score for Man Utd is 72 compared to City’s 70. This figure is calculated using a variety of different metrics, including potential development and playing time, to style and formation.
The two Manchester sides score very differently. United are better for Anderson if he wants to make an instant impact, offering him five stars in terms of playing time, but for long-term development Guardiola’s men are better.
Anderson’s choice between making an immediate splash at Old Trafford and potentially reaching his maximum potential at City, then, could provide an insight into his long-term career goals.
