Lamine Camara could reportedly miss out on a move to Chelsea in 2027 due to their “broken relationship” with AS Monaco.

The Senegal midfielder was expected to secure a Stamford Bridge switch on Transfer Deadline Day last week, with a €55 million move finalised between the two clubs, but Monaco pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute as they believed Folarin Balogun was heading to Everton.

The striker eventually rejected the chance to join David Moyes’ side, however Chelsea were unable to resurrect talks over a deal for Camara as Monaco had refused to sign a deal sheet.

The Ligue 1 club’s conduct infuriated Chelsea officials and GiveMeSport now report there is a “broken relationship” between the two teams as a result of Monaco’s decision to block a sale despite a €55m transfer being agreed.

In fact, it’s claimed there is no guarantee that Chelsea will rekindle their interest in Camara in 2027, due to Monaco’s actions, and the midfielder could therefore be denied the chance to join the Stamford Bridge outfit next year.

The Senegal star could instead be set to join Liverpool, with Andoni Iraola’s side tipped to pursue a deal if Alexis Mac Allister is sold next summer.

Camara has been on Liverpool’s radar for several months and it’s understood that he is among the stars on their list of midfield targets, alongside the likes of Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) and Alex Scott (Bournemouth).

How has Lamine Camara reacted to failed Chelsea transfer?

Despite Camara’s eagerness to join Chelsea on Deadline Day, he appears to be content at Monaco and he played a starring role as they secured a 2-1 win over reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain on Friday.

When asked about the midfielder’s failed move to Chelsea ahead of the game, Monaco boss Filipe Luis admitted (via GFFN): “Probably, with everything, there is something in his mind that is affected. But, honestly, he is a special kid; he is a very special person. It is easy to work with him.

“The football world knows about Lamine. Other clubs are looking at him. If he just maintains [his level], it won’t just be one club – all the big clubs will come for him.”

Meanwhile, Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro added: “As with many other players, better things will come in the future. This is not the end of the world. It’s just one possibility for a player on his level with his talent.

“I’m very confident that soon he will have even better options and offers than the one he had yesterday.”
