Chelsea need to brace themselves for bids from Newcastle United for two of their attacking talents.

Newcastle are eyeing up moves for both Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap as they look to strengthen their attack, according to Fichajes.

The Magpies have moved summer striker signing Nick Woltemade to attacking midfield while playing winger Anthony Gordon out of position as a No. 9.

Newcastle have not been up to their recent standards in either attack or defence this season, but their struggles at the back can be in part attributed to injuries to Fabian Schar and Tino Livramento.

Midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is the club’s top goalscorer and assist provider, which indicates that the club could use reinforcements in front of goal to unlock its potential.

Delap and Jackson could form a solid partnership or play separately. Together, they would resemble a throwback strike partnership with Delap the more rugged option and Jackson the quicker one who likes to get in behind defences.

Delap and Jackson rumour provides perfect PSR chance for Chelsea

Chelsea are often on the cusp of violating Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) because of their free-spending nature, so any chance to offload players has to be considered.

Delap has played just 796 minutes in the league this season after arriving over the summer, while Jackson was loaned out to Bayern Munich — where playing time has been similarly hard to come by — before the season began.

The English forward has scored just one league goal this season, but he impressed without much support as the main attacking option for Ipswich Town, who ended up being relegated, last season.

Jackson also has something of a Premier League pedigree, as he was a one-goal-every-three-games type of forward in his two seasons at Chelsea. He can also play in his teammates, as he provided five league assists in each of those campaigns.

The clubs will have to come to an agreement over the fee for each player, and Chelsea may lose some leverage as Delap has not played much and they deemed Jackson surplus to requirements last summer. Still, these two deals could be too good to pass up for each side.
