The summer transfer window is one of the most exciting periods in the football season. Everyone reads the rumours online, predicting where players will end up. This summer, the window could be even bigger as there’s a World Cup, and big performances at the tournament can lead to huge moves for players.

Marcus Rashford To Barcelona

Marcus Rashford ended his Manchester United nightmare by signing for Barcelona last summer. As part of the deal, Barca have the option to sign the England international, who’s been mainly a squad player for them this term. While football transfer odds suggest the deal will happen, it’s thought there continues to be disagreements over the fee, thought to be around €30 million. So, while it’s still likely he makes his stay in Barcelona permanent, could an emotional return to Old Trafford be on the cards?

Jadon Sancho As A Free Agent

Like Rashford, Jadon Sancho is also a player who was thrown into exile at Manchester United, with the winger being farmed out on loan to Chelsea last season and Aston Villa this term. Sancho, who previously excelled in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund, will leave United as a free agent this summer. As he’s failed to impress in the Premier League, a return to the Bundesliga, and potentially Dortmund, may be the move to kick-start his career once again.

Harry Kane To Return To The Premier League

Harry Kane departed Tottenham Hotspur and the Premier League in 2023 because of his desire to play for a top club and win things. Since joining Bayern Munich, he’s done just that, breaking a multitude of goalscoring records along the way. While Kane is seemingly happy in Munich, there continues to be talk about extending his deal with the club, which runs until 2027. If an extension fails to come to pass, it’s likely Bayern will look to sell while Kane has value, meaning a return to the English top flight and one of the top teams could happen.

Bernardo Silva To End City Stay

Bernardo Silva is undoubtedly one of Manchester City’s modern greats. He’s won everything there is to win since joining from Monaco in 2017, and his future has often been the subject of speculation. The last time there were rumours the midfielder would leave, he penned an extension. However, with his current contract set to expire this summer, and with no talk of the City skipper looking to extend, Silva’s nine-year stay in Manchester will likely come to an end. As a free agent, he will have the pick of clubs.

Mohamed Salah To Saudi Arabia

When Mohamed Salah signed a contract extension with Liverpool last summer, everyone agreed that this was the right decision all round for the reigning Premier League champions. However, this season has been disappointing for both Liverpool and Salah himself, with tension between the club and the winger becoming public at the back end of 2025. With Salah failing to hit the levels expected this season, a parting of ways is highly likely this summer, with Saudi Pro League clubs queuing up to give him a big-money contract.

Conclusion

The summer transfer window could be one of the most intriguing yet, as there will be lots of players on the move, and long stays at clubs could come to an end. It will also be interesting to see how the World Cup impacts transfer action.
