Barcelona linked with shock deal for newly-signed BlueCo wonderkid
Barcelona have been linked to BlueCo’s newest wonderkid signing, but a deal is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
Gessime Yassine, who moved from Dunkerque to Strasbourg late in the winter transfer window, is being considered by Barca, according to Fichajes.
The Morocco youth international impressed with three goals and six assists in 15 appearances in all competitions for Ligue 2’s Dunkerque before making the move to BlueCo’s Strasbourg. Joining the Ligue 1 side means the player has a shot at playing for Chelsea in the future, as the Blues are the jewel in BlueCo’s crown.
Signing 20-year-old Yassine would fit with Barca’s strategy of signing and promoting young talent in recent windows. The Blaugrana signed 19-year-old left-back Patricio Pacifico in late January, and have also been heavily linked with Ajay Tavares of Norwich City and Hamza Abdelkarim of Al Ahly.
Yassine transfer unlikely in the near future
Yassine has been part of the BlueCo system for less than two months, which would make a move to Barcelona a surprise if it happened this summer.
The 20-year-old only has 30 Ligue 1 minutes under his belt across four appearances off the bench.
It is plain to see why big clubs want him, though. He is a left-footed winger who has shown a decent end product early in his career as he had eight goals and seven assists in 72 matches for Dunkerque, and he has impressive pressing and dribbling metrics.
He has seen a meteoric rise in his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV), with it more than doubling in the three months from September 2025 to December 2025.
The young Moroccan would be an ideal backup to Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, both of whom are left-footed. Along with another recent left-footed winger signing, Roony Bardghji, adding him would see the club be set on the wings for at least the next decade.
But the fact remains that Yassime was only just added to BlueCo’s books. He is a big talent, and with a clear path to joining Chelsea, the organization will likely not let him leave easily.
