The Premier League title is not the only thing Arsenal and Manchester City are battling for.

Both clubs are set to enter the right-back market, but Manchester City has directed its attention to Tottenham Hotspur’s Pedro Porro, in the event the struggling giants get relegated, according to Football Insider.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have been in the market for Newcastle United ace Tino Livramento.

Porro has arguably been the one bright spot in a dismal year for his club, and City will hope his signing will be a repeat of the success former Spurs right-back Kyle Walker brought to the blue side of Manchester after his €52.7 million transfer in 2017. The Spaniard had been on Man City’s books from 2019 to 2022, although he never made a senior appearance and spent three seasons on loan.

Walker led Man City to six Premier League titles in his eight seasons with the club, as well as one Champions League, four League Cups, and two FA Cups.

Porro is more of a wing-back than Walker was in his prime, and he would add symmetry across the pitch from Man City’s summer 2025 signing Rayan Ait Nouri.

City’s Porro deal clears Arsenal’s path to Livramento

Arsenal fans may be happier than City fans to hear of the Manchester club’s potential deal for Porro, as it could make signing Newcastle standout Livramento easier for the Gunners.

FootballTransfers exclusively reported in January that Arsenal were monitoring Livramento. The 23-year-old Englishman has dealt with knee and hamstring injuries that have limited him to 14 league appearances this season, but his talent is unquestioned.

Livramento provides width and can provide dangerous crosses for his teammates while supporting the winger ahead of him.

He could provide a boost to Bukayo Saka, who has appeared to be isolated on the right-wing and has seen his goal and assist numbers dip compared to previous seasons.

Livramento would provide something different compared to Arsenal’s current first-choice right-back, Jurrien Timber, and could help the club break down the low blocks that have caused it so many problems this year.
