Man Utd get massive Elliot Anderson boost: He's 'bound for Manchester'
Manchester United have been handed a massive boost in their pursuit of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
The 23-year-old is widely expected to leave the City Ground in the summer after establishing himself as one of Thomas Tuchel's first-choice midfielders for England.
Anderson has been sensational for Nottingham Forest since joining from Newcastle in 2024, and he is understood to be one of Man Utd's priority targets this year.
Forest had no intention of entertaining offers in January, but it is believed that the player's future could be out of their control in the next window. This is due to Anderson's contract and certain mechanisms contained in it that reportedly allow him to leave the club for a reasonable fee.
Man Utd will be at the front of the queue for the midfielder, but Man City are also believed to be huge admirers. In fact, in recent weeks, it has been claimed that Anderson has his heart set on moving to the Etihad.
Anderson is Manchester-bound
However, according to Daily Mail journalist Tom Collomosse, no final decision has been made. He acknowledges that Anderson appears to be "bound for Manchester," but insists that "which side he goes to is not determined yet."
This is a welcome boost for Man Utd after several recent reports asserted that they are certain to miss out on the 23-year-old. The only thing that is clear at this stage is that Anderson will be on the move. Of course, it is worth noting that the Forest star is not the only player on Man Utd's radar.
The Red Devils also continue to be linked with Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and Joao Gomes, while long-standing target Leon Goretzka will be available as a free agent, although he does not fit the age profile of recent signings.
With Casemiro having already announced his departure and Manuel Ugarte facing an uncertain future, Man Utd will make a concerted effort to revamp their engine room. They are likely to sign at least two new midfielders in the summer.
