OFFICIAL: Rangers complete exciting €3.5m signing
Rangers have officially completed the signing of Westerlo full-back Tuur Rommens.
Danny Rohl has wrapped up the second new recruit of his Ibrox tenure by striking a deal for Belgium youth international Rommens. The 22-year-old was known to be a Rangers target for several weeks.
Primarily a left-back, Rommens is set to fill a problem position at Rangers. Jayden Meghoma, who has impressed under Rohl, was the only natural left-back available to the German tactician.
Rangers have paid around €3.5 million to acquire Rommens. He has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal, but he may not immediately slot into the side. The Premiership title challengers want to manage his minutes as he has been carrying a knock.
Given Meghoma's form, there is no urgency to throw Rommens into the deep end. The youngster has made 15 appearances so far this season. He notched a goal and nine assists in 79 outings for Westerlo.
Rommens: "Everyone knows Rangers"
Rommens spoke glowingly of the Glasgow giants after the announcement of his transfer. “I’m very happy to be here," he explained. "It’s a dream to play for a club like this, and I only have positive feelings.
“Everyone knows Rangers, and when a club like this is interested in you, then you want to be part of this club. The most important thing is that they believe in me, and that’s why I have come here.
"It’s a big club with a lot of fans, and they always play in Europe. It was very easy for me to make this choice.”
✍️ We can today announce the signing of Tuur Rommens from Westerlo on an initial three-and-a-half-year deal, subject to international clearance and the obtainment of a work permit.

Head coach Rohl said: “I am delighted to welcome Tuur to the club. He is a young and hungry player who adds real quality and physicality to the group and increases competition in a key area of the pitch.
“We believe he will be a fantastic addition to the side and an important asset in the years ahead.”
