Liverpool have made a decision on Curtis Jones and Giorgi Mamardashvili after receiving surprising late-window interest in the pair.

It has been a bizarre January for the Reds. Despite missing out on both Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi, and despite currently not having a fit right-back, Liverpool will likely not make any additions before the deadline, barring any late twists.

The Anfield club were ready to sell club legend Andy Robertson to Tottenham, but the deal had to be put on ice due to AS Roma failing to secure a replacement for Kostas Tzimikas, who would have returned to Liverpool in the event of the Scotland international's departure.

Liverpool have explored the right-back market, but none of the available options have been deemed good enough. Talks over a deal for Stade Rennais wonderkid Jeremy Jacquet are also proving difficult because he has his heart set on joining Chelsea.

All of that is to say that this January window will go down as a failure for the struggling Reds. Thankfully for supporters, Liverpool will not make this window even worse by offloading key players.

Liverpool won't sell Jones

According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool will not listen to offers for midfielder Curtis Jones, who emerged as a priority target for Inter on Friday evening. Talks were held, but the reigning Premier League champions want to keep their squad together, the journalist reports.

Inter showed an interest in the Scouser after agreeing a deal with Nottingham Forest for midfielder Davide Frattesi. Jones would have been their preferred replacement for the Italy international.

However, given the injury problems Liverpool are dealing with, head coach Arne Slot has surely vetoed the move. Similarly, it seems highly doubtful that the Reds will be receptive to bids for Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The Georgia international has failed to dislodge No.1 Alisson between the sticks at Anfield, which has emboldened Besiktas to offer a paid loan for the 25-year-old, Foot Mercato claims.

Allowing Mamardashvili to depart would leave Liverpool with Freddie Woodman as their only senior backup to Alisson, making it incredibly unlikely that they will accept the offer this late in the window.
