Julian Alvarez: €100m bid made for Atletico Madrid ace
Atletico Madrid are seriously considering accepting a €100 million bid for Arsenal target Julian Alvarez.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona have all been linked with a move for the Argentina striker, with the Premier League giants tipped to make a €150m offer for the former Manchester City hitman in the summer.
However, the English giants face competition from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, who have pre-empted their offers by making an offer of their own, according to Fichajes.
Doubts over Alvarez’s future at Atletico Madrid
While Alvarez has scored four goals in six Champions League games this season, there are concerns at the Wanda Metropolitano regarding his overall performance.
He may have seven goals in La Liga, but five of these came in a three-day burst when he netted a hat-trick against Rayo Vallecano and then two against Real Madrid.
As such, there is reportedly “concern” among those at Atleti at the striker’s current form.
Alvarez the first of many Saudi signings?
The Saudi Pro League is reportedly planning for a spectacular summer in which they have targeted the signing of no fewer than 50 superstar players, including Mohamed Salah and Vinicius Junior – and the first of these could be Alvarez.
Fichajes claims that the offer made to Atletico is concrete, with Al-Ahli “confident” that Alvarez’s recent frustrations will pave the way for contract talks.
For their part, Atleti may struggle to turn down such a lucrative offer, the report states.
However, Alvarez’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) sits at €120m, and with the interest of two of English football’s biggest clubs, the Spanish club may hold out for more.
Al-Ahli boast a clear financial advantage over their English rivals when it comes to wages, with the Saudi Pro League offering outsized salaries in order to lure players to a division that lacks the spotlight of the Premier League or Champions League.
