Amorim receives January transfer budget as Man Utd owners set ambitious target
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will reportedly be provided with a €125 million (£110m) budget to spend during the upcoming January transfer window.
The Red Devils splashed €250.7m on five new signings this summer, but they are set to dip back into the market in 2026 as they look to improve the options available to Amorim in the winter window.
That is according to online transfer reporter IndyKaila, who posted on his X account: “Manchester United owners will provide £110m for any potential January transfers.
“The club wants to bring Champions League football back to Old Trafford. They want to target the best players in the world again.”
Man Utd haven’t qualified for the Champions League since they finished in third place during the 2022-23 Premier League season and they are without European football entirely this term after a dismal campaign saw them finish 15th in 2024-25.
However, INEOS are eager to propel the Red Devils back to the pinnacle of European football and they appear willing to spend heavily in order to help Amorim achieve that.
After an underwhelming start to the campaign, Man Utd are now unbeaten in five English top flight matches and they are currently seventh in the Premier League table, four points behind Manchester City in second.
Man Utd’s January transfer plans
Man Utd have been linked with a number of players ahead of the January transfer window, with the Red Devils eager to bolster Amorim’s first-team squad for the remainder of the campaign.
Central midfield has been identified as a priority area in need of improvement amid Kobbie Mainoo’s inability to impress Amorim and several targets have been earmarked by INEOS.
Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Carlos Baleba (Brighton & Hove Albion), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace), Conor Gallagher (Atletico Madrid) and Angelo Stiller (Stuttgart) have all been linked with a January move to Old Trafford, while Chelsea star Andrey Santos is also understood to be on Man Utd’s radar.
Benjamin Sesko’s recent injury has increased speculation that a new centre forward will arrive, although Man Utd appear unlikely to dip into the market for a striker unless they offload Joshua Zirkzee in January.
