Fabrizio Romano hands Man Utd big boost of signing LEGEND
Manchester United have been handed a big boost to their chances of signing Robert Lewandowski as AC Milan will struggle to afford his salary.
Matteo Moretto reports in his usual slot on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel that Lewandowski’s salary demands make a Milan deal difficult.
Milan want to sign the Barcelona ace on a free transfer at the end of the season.
They have already opened talks with the striker’s entourage.
Lewandowski is understood to be open to the move but Moretto says that the player’s salary is beyond Milan’s means.
It would take the 37-year-old to take a massive pay cut for Milan to afford him.
Door opened for Man Utd
This news opens the door for Man Utd, who have also been heavily linked with Lewandowski in 2026.
Romano says there is a concrete chance Lewandowski and Barcelona will part ways at the end of the campaign but not in January.
It is widely believed that Lewandowski wants to carry on playing in Europe rather than moving to MLS or the Middle East. This offers United more hope of making a deal.
There has been little to no attempt from Barcelona or Lewandowski to ignite contract renewal talks.
Even though he is 37, Lewandowski still remains in excellent shape and is still scoring with regularity. He has four goals in 11 games this term.
Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich at the age of nearly 34 in 2022 for €45 million rising too €50m.
Despite his age, he has continued to be prolific. He has scored 105 goals in 158 games for Barcelona.
