Chelsea have been told that Nicolas Jackson does not want to cut short his loan deal at Bayern Munich is a deal that has so far seen the Blues haemorrhage money.

Article continues under the video

Jackson was loaned to the Bundesliga leaders at the end of the summer transfer window to provide them with backup for Harry Kane.

The Colombia international striker, though, is struggling to make an impression under Vincent Kompany. He has played only 420 minutes, and while he has scored three goals, two of these have come in runaway Champions League victories.

When the deal was struck, it was reported by reputable sources such as Sky Sports, that Bayern had an obligation to buy worth around €80 million, including a €16m loan fee.

It has emerged via Bild that it will take a “very, very high number” of appearances for this to be triggered, so much so that it is “unlikely” that Jackson will complete a permanent move to FCB.

The 24-year-old is likely to remain at Bayern until the end of the season, transfer market specialist Florian Plettenberg reports, but this does not necessarily make good reading for Chelsea.

Nicolas Jackson: Chelsea backed into a corner over transfer

Nicolas Jackson’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has plummeted since making the move to Bayern in the summer.

He was valued at €65m prior to moving to Germany but has since seen this drop to €53.5m.

Although this is only a theoretical value, the move to Kompany’s side has almost wiped out the loan fee of €16m that Bayern gave to Chelsea.

To make matters worse, should he continue to struggle to earn game time, his value will continue to drop. With Harry Kane at the peak of his powers, the Blues striker is unlikely to be given too many serious opportunities.

All this is backing Chelsea into a difficult position over a player that Enzo Maresca clearly feels they do not need. Come next summer, when Jackson inevitably returns to Stamford Bridge, what happens then?

Chelsea will need to sell, but the player’s value is tumbling along with his reputation, with two major clubs having turned their back on him.

Meanwhile, the Blues have him under contract until 2033. Any buyer will know the Stamford Bridge side are in a weak position when it comes to negotiations, further hampering their ability to get a deal done at a reasonable price.

The longer Jackson is on the Bayern bench, the more his value drops, and less control Chelsea have over the situation. It’s turning into a grim deal for the Stamford Bridge men.
