Chelsea's talks with Juventus youngster Kenan Yildiz have been put on standby, but new discussions are planned, according to a report.

The Turkey international is a long-standing target for the Blues, but he has so far eluded the Premier League giants. In the summer, Chelsea reportedly made a €70 million bid for Yildiz.

However, Juventus have tried their utmost to convince the exciting youngster that he is the new face of the club in a bid to get him to ignore the Premier League interest he has been receiving.

Yildiz only joined Juventus in 2022, but he has already signed several improved contracts in step with his spectacular development. Last year, he was even given Alessandro del Piero's famous No.10 shirt to signal his importance to the Old Lady.

In recent months, Juventus have again sought to offer Yildiz better terms to put to bed any hope Chelsea may have of poaching him, but these efforts have not met with success so far.

Chelsea waiting for contract talks to be resolved

Over the summer, it seemed almost a foregone conclusion that the 20-year-old would again extend his deal with the Bianconeri, but progress has slowed down to a crawl in recent weeks.

This has emboldened Chelsea to step up their courtship of Yildiz, and speculation surrounding a potential move to Stamford Bridge has been rife in the Italian press.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that elite Premier League sides have been 'calling' for Yildiz, but TEAMtalk reports that discussions with Chelsea have actually been on standby recently.

It is claimed that the Blues are waiting for an indication as to how Yildiz's contract negotiations will pan out. Currently, it is completely up in the air whether he is leaning more towards extending or rejecting the offer.

Once the picture becomes clearer, Chelsea are planning to re-enter talks with the wonderkid to try and convince him of a move to the Premier League. However, the Blues are not the only English side following his discussions with Juventus, as Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen.
