Real Madrid plunder Premier League as Alonso targets €120m stars for FREE
Real Madrid are ready to launch a transfer assault on the Premier League in the coming months, with Xabi Alonso’s side ready to snap up a trio of leading stars for absolutely nothing.
Los Blancos have made good use of the free transfer market in the recent past, signing Kylian Mbappe from PSG in 2023 before making a similar agreement with Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, only to pay some compensation for the Reds to release him a little early.
Alonso’s side are, therefore, well versed in the best ways to manipulate this aspect of the market and they will try to use their experience to replace centre-backs David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger this summer.
Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi feature on Madrid’s transfer shortlist along with Bayern Munich ace Dayot Upamecano as they seek low-cost but high-quality summer signings, Marca reports (via FootMercato).
Alonso’s side have a particular advantage when it comes to completing the big-name signings of Konate and Guehi as the pair cannot negotiate with other Premier League teams until their contracts end. They can, however, open official talks with foreign clubs as of January.
This is seen as a unique opportunity for Madrid to restructure their defence at next to no cost. Ibrahima Konate has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €40.5m while Guehi’s worth stands at €42.5m and Upamecano is valued at €34m. Snap the trio up and the Spanish giants will have landed close to €120m worth of talent for no transfer fee.
Opening the door to Haaland?
Success in these deals would open up the possibility of other big-money transfers elsewhere in the team.
The Spanish press believes that Los Blancos are eyeing up a huge move for Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, although that would be part-funded by a sale of Vinicius Junior, who remains locked in a contract dispute with the club.
While such a move is a long shot, tying down players of this calibre as early as January would allow Madrid to be flexible in the transfer market come the summer and take advantage of any opportunities that arise.
