Rangers boss Russell Martin is facing a must-win game against Falkirk on Sunday, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 39-year-old is under immense pressure at Ibrox following a dreadful start to the season. The Rangers supporters have already long since turned on Martin, and it increasingly looks as though he is fighting a losing battle.

His record in charge of the Glasgow giants became even worse on Thursday when his side were beaten 2-1 by Sturm Graz, leaving them with two defeats from two games in the Europa League.

All told, Martin has only won five of his 16 fixtures in charge of Rangers, and it wasn't until last weekend that they picked up their first victory in the Premiership. They are currently eighth with just seven points from six games.

It wouldn't come as a surprise if Rangers were to use the upcoming international break to make a managerial change, and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has admitted that Martin is likely running out of time to turn things around.

Romano: Martin situation at Rangers is 'getting hard'

The Gers take on relegation-battling Falkirk on Sunday in what is likely to be a must-win match for Martin. That said, he could potentially lose his job even if Rangers were to win, given how poor they have looked so far this term.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT ahead of the game, Romano said: "It’s going to be important for sure, as the situation is getting hard also with the fans."

Club legend Ally McCoist, meanwhile, has admitted that it's 'difficult' to see a way back for Martin at this point. "It is going to be very difficult. Very, very difficult," he told talkSPORT.

"The only way that Russell can get through it, it's not rocket science, he has just got to win games," he added. "He has got to go on a run to go seven, eight, nine, ten wins, I don't know what it is, keep winning and keep winning and see where it takes him."

Reports suggest that former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is gearing up for a return to the Ibrox dugout, although claims are now surfacing that Gerrard will only take the job if he is given assurances that he will be backed financially.
