Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson will join Bayern Munich permanently next summer unless there is a 'major change of circumstance,' a report claims.

The Senegal international joined the reigning Bundesliga champions late in the summer window after a bizarre transfer saga. Jackson was pushed out of Chelsea after they signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, but it took until the final days of the window for a deal to materialise.

The Blues had initially wanted to sell him permanently, but their steep asking price deterred his suitors. Only when they changed their stance did Bayern open talks over a loan.

Minutes after arriving in Munich, Jackson was ordered to return to London as Delap had suffered a long-term injury, but the wantaway striker refused. He had his heart set on joining Bayern and managed to successfully push through the move, even forfeiting money to help the German giants.

Bayern paid a whopping €16.5 milion loan fee, and the deal contains both a purchase option and an obligation for €65 million. The latter will be triggered if he starts 40 games, which is deemed unrealistic due to AFCON in the winter and the presence of Harry Kane.

Bayern plan to sign Jackson permanently

Despite this, Bayern are planning to make Jackson's stay at the Allianz Arena permanent next summer anyway. It remains to be seen if they will pay the €65m or if they will try to renegotiate the deal, but TBR Football reports that they will look to keep him beyond this season.

Journalist Graeme Bailey said: "Bayern Munich have been delighted with Nicolas Jackson since arriving, indeed, they have been hugely impressed by him following their first meeting with him.

“His commitment to come, which saw the player and agents sacrificing money to make the deal happen, to his insistence that the team he wanted to join was Bayern.

“All parties acknowledge that the obligation will likely not be met, also given that Jackson is due at the AFCON in the New Year, but their commitment is solid. I am told it would take a major change of circumstance for Jackson not to join Bayern permanently.”
