Man Utd TRANSFER LIST star with ‘Ruben Amorim left FUMING’
Manchester United have want to sell Casemiro in January, with manager Ruben Amorim "left fuming" by his red card against Chelsea.
Football Insider reports through former Man Utd chief scout Mick Brown that the Red Devils want to offload the Brazilian in the winter market.
Ruben Amorim and the club see no future for the 33-year-old and will release him on a free transfer at the end of the season when his contract expires if they can't find a buyer in January.
Brown adds that Amorim was left fuming by Casemiro's silly red card during the 2-1 win over Chelsea at the weekend.
What did Brown say?
“The time has come for Casemiro to move on,” Brown told Football Insider.
“If Man United get an offer for him which suits them, they could decide to cash in, but otherwise I hear it’s likely he’ll be allowed to leave for free.
“At his age, with the money he’s earning, it wouldn’t make sense to keep him around.
“There’s been interest in him from the Saudi Pro League, and I think that’s probably a move that will suit him at this stage.
“I think his performances have shown that he shouldn’t have much of a long-term future at United, especially after what he did against Chelsea.
“He should have enough brains to know that he’s on a yellow card and in danger of getting another one, so he can’t afford to make that challenge.
“Amorim will have been fuming with him, and rightly so because he could have cost them the win.”
Casemiro had seemed certain to be sold this past summer transfer going into the final weeks of last season.
But the Brazilian ended the campaign brilliantly to lead United into the Europa League final.
But Sunday's red card has led to renewed criticism for the Real Madrid legend.
Man Utd had been trying to offload Casemiro in the previous two transfer windows and he was close to joining Roma in January.
The Brazilian was transfer listed in the summer of 2024 but the midfielder was unwilling to take a drastic pay cut as he is Man Utd’s highest paid player on £18.2 million per year.
Casemiro was arguably Man Utd’s signature move of the summer of 2022, as they splashed out over €70 million for the legendary midfielder from Real Madrid.
Some critics questioned paying such a large sum of money for a player who was already 30.
The 33-year-old performed well for much of his first season and he played a key role in them winning the Carabao Cup.
However, his form fell off badly in the 2023-24 campaign for a Man Utd team that endured a disastrous Premier League and Champions League season.
United finished in eighth place, out of the European places and with a negative goal difference. They also were knocked out of the Champions League group stages, finishing bottom of a group containing Bayern Munich, Copenhagen and Galatasaray, and conceding more goals than any English team in a group campaign ever.
They did win the FA Cup, but Casemiro did not play in the final.
Last season, things initially got even worse for Casemiro but he enjoyed a strong end to the season and showed more of his old form despite another disastrous season for the club.
