Man City agree deal to sell Ilkay Gundogan
Man City have reached an agreement with Galatasaray for the transfer of Ilkay Gundogan.
The Cityzens' firesale of their old guard will claim another victim, it seems. Kevin de Bruyne departed the club at the start of the summer, while Ederson and Manuel Akanji are set to follow suit before the deadline.
Now, it is emerging that Gundogan could also be on his way, which is a scenario that has been rumoured for some time. According to Sky Germany and Fabrizio Romano, Galatasaray are now in advanced talks to sign the Germany international.
An agreement between Man City and the Turkish giants has already been reached as the Premier League outfit are keen to further trim down their squad. The details of said agreement have yet to be disclosed, however.
Now, it is up to Gundogan to reach an agreement on personal terms with Galatasaray, but there is said to be optimism that this transfer will be completed.
Gundogan heading to Galatasaray
Gundogan previously said that he would be interested in playing for Galatasaray. The reigning Super Lig champions are currently offering him a €5 million net salary.
Gundogan has a year remaining on his Man City contract, having surprisingly returned to the club in summer 2024 after terminating his deal with Barcelona to help the club out of their financial mire.
Earlier this window, Galatasaray were also locked in lengthy talks with Man City over Ederson, but despite an agreement with the goalkeeper, they failed to find common ground with their English counterparts.
The Brazilian goalkeeper is now set to join hated rivals Fenerbahce in what will be a chastening blow for Galatasaray. However, the signing of Gundogan would more than make up for missing out on Ederson.
