Arsenal thunder towards stunning double deal
Arsenal chief Andrea Berta is making quick progress in talks with Bukayo Saka and William Saliba over new contracts, according to a report.
Spirits are high at the Emirates after Saturday's comfortable victory over Nottingham Forest, which took Arsenal's record for the season to three wins out of four games.
All of the new recruits who featured performed brilliantly, allaying any fears supporters may have had about big-money signings failing to hit the ground running.
Cristhian Mosquera, whose value has already doubled since joining, and Noni Madueke expertly deputised for William Saliba and Bukayo Saka in their injury-enforced absence.
Saliba could make his return against Athletic Club in the Champions League or against Man City later in the week, in what will be a nice boost for Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal closing in on Saliba, Saka contracts
It is not just due to their injuries that Saliba and Saka are in the spotlight. The pair are also currently in contract talks with Arsenal, and progress is being made.
Arteta revealed as much last week: “That never stops, but I think the collaboration between the club, what Andrea [Berta] is doing, and the agents, is very good," he said.
“I think the good thing is that the players want to remain here and they want to be a big part of the history of this club in the next few years, and that is always positive, and Andrea will drive that and see where we go.”
TBR Football now reports that Berta believes he is making 'good' progress as Arsenal look to finally wrap up these two hugely important deals. Saka and Saliba are set to be elevated into the upper wage bracket at the Emirates.
Agreeing a new deal for Saliba is a particularly urgent matter due to his being a priority target for Real Madrid for 2026.
