Alexander Isak's controversial WhatsApp message to Newcastle teammates
Alexander Isak controversially informed his Newcastle teammates by WhatsApp that he was joining Liverpool.
Rather than tell his now ex-teammates in person, Isak said his goodbyes by way of a WhatsApp group message.
Newcastle defender Dan Burn has revealed how Isak parted ways but insists he wishes the striker all the best at Liverpool.
What did Burn say?
"He put a message in the chat just saying that he was leaving, thanks for the memories, all that sort of stuff, and the lads replied,” Burn explained.
“Yeah, of course (it was all positive). Alex is getting what he wants, and now we've just got to focus and do what we can with the players that we've got.
"It has brought us closer, really. I'm not silly, I've been around football a long time and people have short careers. They want to max out absolutely everything they can, so there's no hard feelings from me.”
Liverpool completed the signing of the Newcastle United striker for a Premier League record transfer fee of €145 million (£125m).
This completed one of the longest transfer sagas of recent years with Newcastle fighting tooth and nail to keep Isak at St James' Park.
The behaviour of Isak was called into question after he publicly demanded a move and was effectively exiled from the club in recent weeks.
Ultimately, Isak got his way and made the move to Anfield.
Unsurprisingly, news of the move did not go down well with many Newcastle fans.
Supporters even put up a banner outside St James' Park branding Isak a "rat".
🚨 Newcastle fans put this banner up outside St. James’ Park last night. 👀
So Isak is a rat because he acted like a prat so he could leave but Wissa is a Geordie because he acted like a prat so he could join. Got you. 🤝😂

At €145m, Isak is the most expensive Premier League transfer in history.
Liverpool had one bid for the 25-year-old Sweden striker knocked back earlier in the window, but made one big push to get him on Deadline Day.
Isak asked to leave Newcastle after contract renewal talks collapsed - as the club had been unwilling to meet his €350,000 a week wage demands.
He was exiled since during pre-season and had not played any games for Newcastle this campaign.
Isak has emerged as one of the best strikers in European football over the past couple of seasons.
He joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad for €73m in 2022.
The 25-year-old scored 62 goals in 109 games for Newcastle.
