Oliver Glasner announces Eberechi Eze decision after Tottenham 'agreement'
Oliver Glasner has announced that Eberechi Eze will feature in Crystal Palace's next game, despite reports that there is an agreement with Tottenham.
The England star is the subject of strong interest from Spurs, who have been in talks with Crystal Palace in recent days in a bid to thrash out a deal following James Maddison's ACL injury.
Eze has reportedly informed Palace of his desire to make the move to Tottenham, but he has continued to train and play normally. The 27-year-old started against Chelsea on Sunday - and had a goal disallowed - and looked in good spirits in team training earlier on Wednesday.
Palace will face Norwegian outfit Fredrikstad FK in the first leg of their Europa Conference League play-off at Selhurst Park on Thursday, and Oliver Glasner has announced that Eze will start the match.
This comes after reports on Tuesday claimed that an agreement in principle had been reached between Palace and Tottenham for the transfer of Eze for around €69 million.
Palace agree deal for El Khannouss
This reporting has been challenged, however, and Glasner's decision to utilise Eze suggests that no such accord has as yet been reached. Palace would likely not use Eze if a deal were already in place.
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg corroborated claims of an agreement on Tuesday evening but hinted that he received this information from a Tottenham source.
This source appears to be a bit overzealous as both Sky Sports in the UK and Fabrizio Romano have emphasised that there is no agreement yet. Nevertheless, the deal is heading in the right direction.
Meanwhile, Palace have agreed a transfer for Eze's potential replacement, Bilal El Khannouss. According to Ben Jacobs, the Eagles will pay Leicester around €35m for the Morocco international, but they also remain interested in Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling and Christos Tzolis of Club Brugge.
