Napoli and Man Utd argue over Hojlund clause
Napoli are still expected to complete the signing of Rasmus Hojlund from Man Utd but the two clubs are haggling over the formula of the deal.
On Monday it was reported that the transfer was on the brink of being completed, with the two teams agreeing on a €5 million with obligation to buy for a further €40m.
However, Gianluca Di Marzio and others report that Napoli and Man Utd disagree on the formula of this obligation.
Napoli want the obligation to be activated after a certain number of appearances, while United want the obligation to be unconditional.
The two teams will continue negotiations but the deal is still expected to go through in the coming days.
Hojlund to Napoli
Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that the transfer is at the 'final stages.'
Napoli decided to move for Hojlund after Romelu Lukaku suffered a long-term injury.
AC Milan had been favourites for Hojlund but Napoli have now moved in to close the deal.
Nicolo Schira says that Hojlund has negotiated a contractat Napoli until 2030 worth €5m a year.
Hojlund is no longer in manager Ruben Amorim's plans for the coming season and has not played a minute this campaign.
Man Utd signed Hojlund in the summer of 2023 from Atalanta for €75 million plus €10m in add-ons.
The 22-year-old has struggled badly, failing to score a single Premier League goal before Christmas in his first season.
Despite picking up in the second half of the campaign, he was a disaster in his second season.
Hojlund scored just four Premier League goals all season and United have now given up on the striker.
