There is a 'strong chance' that Manchester United will fail to secure the signing of Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens, according to Sky Sports.

The Red Devils remain locked in talks with the Belgian shot-stopper and his club, having thus far failed to reach a breakthrough. Negotiations have been ongoing for some time, but neither personal terms have been agreed nor have the clubs found common ground on a fee.

This has emboldened Galatasaray to enter the race for Lammens as they search for a long-term No.1 to replace club legend Fernando Muslera. A delegation from the Istanbul giants recently travelled to Antwerp for face-to-face talks.

Galatasaray made Royal Antwerp what has been described as a 'final offer,' which was higher than anything Man Utd have been prepared to pay to date. However, Lammens is understood to be prioritising talks with the Old Trafford side.

The 23-year-old is a contingency for Galatasaray in case they fail to reach an agreement with Man City for Ederson, with the Premier League side reportedly reluctant to sanction the goalkeeper's exit.

Man Utd could walk away from Lammens

According to Sky Sports, there is no guarantee that Man Utd will be successful in their pursuit of the young goalkeeper as the Red Devils are not willing to 'overpay.'

Antwerp are said to be demanding up to €25 million, while Man Utd have a 'price in mind' that they are reticent to deviate from, which suggests that they will not try to match Galatasaray's bid or improve their current offer, which reportedly stands at around €20m.

Man Utd are described as 'disciplined' in their pursuit of Lammens, and it seems that they could walk away from the deal if Antwerp don't soften their stance.

Indeed, the report states that there is a 'strong chance' that there will be no goalkeeper movement, incoming or outgoing, at Man Utd before the 1 September deadline.
