Antony has made it clear that he will only join Real Betis this summer, which is making life incredibly difficult for Manchester United, according to Spanish media.

One of the most drawn-out transfer sagas of the summer is still no closer to being resolved - and this is by design. Real Betis are in no rush to cough up the money Man Utd want to see for Antony as they know that time is on their side.

The Red Devils are desperate to get rid of the Brazilian, and the more time passes, the more desperate they will become. Or at least that is what Real Betis are banking on.

The Seville club obviously can't break the bank and spend €50 million on Antony, but they are showing in the market that there is money to go around. The Andalusians are set to pay €13.8m for Monterrey midfielder Nelson Deossa, taking their total spending to €42.1m for the summer.

Betis are reportedly willing to go as high as €20m for a certain percentage of Antony's rights, but Man Utd are determined to wash their hands clean of the 25-year-old via a full sale.

Antony pushing for Betis

Under normal circumstances, the situation could be resolved by simply selling Antony to one of his other suitors, preferably a Saudi club, to get a premium transfer fee.

However, in this case, Antony is complicating the matter because, according to Sport, he has made it abundantly clear to everyone, including his admirers, that he only wants to return to Betis this summer.

At present, he is not engaging with any other approaches, and this is part of Betis' transfer game with Man Utd. They believe that this slow burn is working in their favour and will eventually cause the Old Trafford club to cave and agree to a deal that suits them to get rid of this 'hot potato.'

Antony is willing to wait for Betis until the end of the window, and the Verdiblancos, despite threatening to pursue other targets, have no intention of walking away from the deal. The Brazilian is even ready to take a significant pay cut to rejoin the Andalusians.
