Manchester City and Everton are in talks over a loan deal for England winger Jack Grealish.

It has been made clear by Pep Guardiola that Grealish is one of the players who is seen as being surplus to requirements as the 2025/26 season edges closer to starting.

City need a fresh injection of quality in their attack after a disappointing campaign last time out, and they are ready to push the former Aston Villa winger to one side as a result.

Everton’s attention has been caught. The Merseyside club are seeking to make waves in the transfer market after a takeover earlier this year, particularly as they are moving into a new stadium.

The Toffees have been informed, however, that any deal for Grealish promises to be “complicated” due to a €15 million demand laid down by the Cityzens.

Everton told Man City’s Grealish terms

According to Talksport, the only way that Man City are prepared to loan out Grealish is if another club takes on 100% of his wages.

While there is no indication that City want a loan fee, his salary along is huge. Grealish is slated to be paid €15.8m (£13.8m) over the course of the season.

Don’t write Everton off, though. They are exploring paths to get this deal over the line.

Previously, the Toffees had hoped to sign Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling to fill much the same creative role that they hope Grealish might. They were, however, put off by the insistence of the Championship side that they pay €51m upfront plus around €6m in bonuses and a 25% sell-on clause.

These demands forced Everton out of the running for the highly rated teenager and pushed them towards a move for Grealish instead.

While the 29-year-old would be cheaper in the short-term, he would not be Everton’s player at the end of the loan deal, making him an expensive option.

David Moyes’ side may feel, though, that if they can get Grealish at his best, he would be worth every penny.
