Man Utd eye Lammens as Onana stays cool

Romano says that Andre Onana is not panicking after being left out of the Manchester United squad to face Arsenal.

The football transfer news reporter told his YouTube channel: “Ruben Amorim after the game said they didn’t drop Onana. At the same time, I can tell you that the feeling of those close to Onana is that it was because Onana is still recovering from injury and is not at 100% form yet.

“And he accepted the decision. He doesn’t believe it’s to do with transfers. Also because Onana is not in any active talks with another club. There was some interest in Saudi at the beginning of the window. He accepted the decision of Amorim but it’s another story next week.”

Manchester United are, however, being pressed to sign a goalkeeper after an error from Altay Bayindir allowed Riccardo Calafiori to score the only goal of the game, giving Arsenal a 1-0 win at Old Trafford.

“The last bid they made was for Emi Martinez was a loan proposal in July. For the moment, that situation has gone completely quiet,” Romano added.

“The goalkeeper they still like and are keeping an eye on is Senne Lammens, the goalkeeper of Royal Antwerp. They’ve been monitoring him for a long time. If Man Utd decide to invest in a goalkeeper between now and the end of the window, Lammens is the goalkeeper they like.

“They’re aware of the Donnarumma situation, but Manchester City are in concrete talks to sign him.

“There’s still nothing imminent.”

Milan love Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea continue to seek sales before they can add new players to Enzo Maresca’s squad, and Nicolas Jackson could be one of the most lucrative deals they strike.

Romano confirmed: “First of all, keep an eye on Nicolas Jackson. He’s expected to leave Chelsea. He’s still looking for opportunities. There was interest from Newcastle but no bid, while there is still some interest from Premier League clubs but keep an eye on Italy for possibilities for Nicolas Jackson.

“He was on the list of AC Milan and remains appreciated by them. Milan will sign a striker for sure this summer. Rasmus Hojlund from Man Utd is an option, Dusan Vlahovic is an option, but Nicolas Jackson could be another option.

“Milan will never pay €80-90m for him. They’ve been told that Jackson could still be available on the market because no solution has been found for him since the beginning of July. Milan love him but the financial point is the crucial one.”

Nkunku talks intensify as Simons deal stalls

Jackson is far from the only Chelsea player who is pencilled in to leave the club this summer, with Christopher Nkunku another likely departure.

“The conversation is ongoing between Chelsea and Bayern have been speaking about the situation of Nkunku,” Romano said. “There were new contacts today, even on a Sunday.

“Chelsea made clear that they only want Nkunku to leave on a permanent transfer. Bayern want a more creative deal. At the moment, there’s no agreement. The player remains keen on the move. Nkunku wanted the move in January and is still keen on the move now. Chelsea are very strong on their position.”

This deal is important for Chelsea to sign Xavi Simons in a move that has stalled for several weeks.

Romano added: “Nkunku is a crucial part of the domino for the other major story of the summer for Chelsea, which is Xavi Simons. He made clear to all the other clubs interested in him, he wants to go to Chelsea. Bayern are aware of his preference.”

Guardiola eyes ‘ideal’ player

Simons is also linked to Manchester City, but manager Pep Guardiola has a very clear idea of who he would like to sign if Savinho is sold to Tottenham – something that will not necessarily happen.

“There have been reports that Man City could go for Xavi Simons or Maghnes Akliouche. Man City want Rodrygo, but only if Savio leaves,” Romano reiterated.

“If Tottenham put big money on the table - €50-60m will not be enough to convince Man City. Either the bidding goes to above €70m or Savinho stays at City. They’re not desperate to see him go. If he tells Pep Guardiola that he wants to go, he’ll be allowed to leave.

“If Savinho goes, Rodrygo is the dream target. He’s the player mentioned in every single meeting by Pep Guardiola. When they discuss wingers, when they discuss opportunities, Guardiola always mentioned him and sees him as an ideal player for his idea of football.”
