Chelsea opened their Premier League campaign with a scoreless draw at home against Crystal Palace.

Enzo Maresca’s side boasted Joao Pedro in their starting XI and Liam Delap on the bench after a €100 million investment in the pair this summer.

The new-look strike force was unable to break through at Stamford Bridge, and with Nicolas Jackson forcing a move away after tumbling down the pecking order, Chelsea have already earmarked a replacement for him.

Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha is destined to trade one BlueCo club for another, with L’Equipe reporting that the Netherlands U21 striker is heading to West London “without a doubt”.

The French source reports: “His departure is already programmed for the summer of 2026, with the key of a probable five-year contract.”

Emegha is under contract with Strasbourg until 2028 and has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €26 million for Racing, who paid €13m for the striker in 2023. His value has risen exponentially since then, aided by an outstanding performance last season, when he scored 14 goals in 27 Ligue 1 outings.

An exemplary figure

His status at Strasbourg is now reflected by the fact that he has been handed the captain’s armband by head coach Liam Rosenior.

“Picking a captain was not easy but ‘Ema’ has everything I want to see in a player,” the Englishman said.

“He gives a huge amount of energy and intensity; he fully gives himself to the team.

“He’s a natural leader with the manner of his play and the way he carries himself. I’ve told him to above all remain himself, to have the same attitude and the same character.”

Emegha may be a Chelsea player, but when it comes to Strasbourg, it’s clear the Stamford Bridge side dictates their transfer policy, much to the annoyance of Racing fans, who are planning protests against BlueCo.

The Dutchman’s future is, therefore, in Chelsea’s hands.
