Roma ABANDON Sancho to sign Chelsea wonderkid
Roma are set to abandon their pursuit of Jadon Sancho and go all-in for Chelsea wonderkid Tyrique George.
Roma have made the signing of an exciting winger their main priority in the last days of the summer transfer window.
Jadon Sancho has been their top target and Roma have had a €24 million bid accepted by Man Utd for the player.
However, Sancho has been dragging his heels when it comes to accepting a move to Roma, neither saying yes nor no to a transfer.
Roma abandon Sancho for George
Roma's sporting director Frederic Massara met with Sancho's agent on Tuesday to try and get an answer but this was not forthcoming.
Therefore, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma are now set to abandon their chase for Sancho.
Instead, they will go all-in for Chelsea wonderkid George.
The 19-year-old is one of the most exciting English youngsters around but has put in a transfer request at Chelsea this summer.
The Blues would ideally like to keep the player and just send him out on loan, but George has demanded a permanent transfer.
The England U19 international made 26 first-team appearances for Enzo Maresca’s side last season, but he is eager to leave Stamford Bridge following the signing of Jamie Gittens and the Blues’ continued pursuit of both Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho.
The 19-year-old impressed in the Europa Conference League last year, following Mykhailo Mudryk’s doping suspension, however he has fallen down the pecking order following Chelsea’s transfer business this summer.
Roma are prepared to make a significant investment to sign George, who is open to moving to the Stadio Olimpico. Massara has opened talks with George over a transfer.
