Man Utd exit decision hints at next signing after Mbeumo
Manchester United are well on their way to signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford in their second major signing of the summer. Several more are expected to follow as Ruben Amorim attempts to rebuild his squad.
While reinforcements are expected in attack, a major transfer decision taken by the Old Trafford club suggests that their next arrival will come elsewhere.
BBC Sport have indicated that Harry Amass will depart Man Utd on loan having been left out of the squad for the friendly with Leeds United on Saturday, with interest from the Championship and Europe. This strongly suggesting that the next reinforcement will come in the left-back area.
United have little cover in this sector, despite Amorim signing Patrick Dorgu in January. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both injury prone, with the latter expected to be pushed out of the door this summer.
Diego Leon is set to step up to the first team in friendly action, with the Manchester Evening News even suggesting this will be an audition for him to be a backup to Dorgu for the season ahead.
Estupinian the next in the door at Man Utd?
United, though, are already making moves to sign a Premier League proven left-back in the form of Brighton’s Pervis Estupinan. Given the evidence, the Ecuador international looks a strong candidate to become the next signing at Old Trafford.
Ben Jacobs has already reported that Man Utd are in talks to sign the 27-year-old Estupinian from the Seagulls.
Earlier this week, the transfer expert said on X: “Manchester United and Milan both hold a genuine interest in Brighton’s Pervis Estupinan.
“Man Utd have now held talks on the player side.
“No formal approach yet, but Brighton are open to selling having added Maxim De Cuyper.”
Estupinan has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €34 million, having enjoyed 30 Premier League appearances with the south coast outfit last term.
