Real Madrid have decided that they will sell Rodrygo if a suitable offer arrives, in what is a huge boon to Arsenal, according to The Athletic.

The Brazilian superstar's future has been blown wide open again. Rodrygo has been one of the names to watch in the market in recent weeks and even months as he lost his place under Carlo Ancelotti.

The situation hasn't improved under Xabi Alonso so far at the Club World Cup as Rodrygo has only been a substitute in the previous three games, and an unused one at that in two of these three fixtures.

According to The Athletic, Real Madrid have now decided that they will not stand in his way should a suitable offer arrive for him this summer, although officially the club continue to insist that they want to keep him.

At this stage, it is unclear if Rodrygo has decided to leave, but the situation appears untenable in the long run as a player of his calibre can't warm the bench.

Arsenal back in for Rodrygo?

The news of Real Madrid's openness to sell the 24-year-old will be music to the ears of Arsenal, who viewed him as their top target for the left wing after Nico Williams decided to pursue a move to Barcelona.

However, over the past week or so, the Gunners' interest cooled, as exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers, due to the player refusing to make a decision on his future.

We did say, however, that Arsenal would revisit a potential deal for Rodrygo if given encouragement either by the player or Real Madrid that a transfer is indeed possible.

There now appears to be a good chance of the Gunners returning for the Brazilian, although David Ornstein surprisingly claimed on Wednesday that Arsenal would only sign a player like Rodrygo if Gabriel Martinelli were to depart.
