Arsenal agree personal terms with Noni Madueke - David Ornstein
Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, according to David Ornstein.
The England international is facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge, with Madueke not deemed 'untouchable' by the Blues hierarchy. This has encouraged several Premier League sides to express an interest in the 23-year-old, and Arsenal are at the front of the queue.
The Gunners are in the market for reinforcements for both flanks. On the left, they want an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli, while they are also seeking a backup to Bukayo Saka on the right.
Madueke, who is most comfortable on the right but can also play on the left, would initially come in to deputise for and compete with Saka, and Arsenal appear to be serious about signing him.
While the North London outfit have yet to start formal negotiations with Chelsea, they have made contact with Madueke. Indeed, manager Mikel Arteta is said to have held 'private' talks with the tricky winger.
Arsenal agree Madueke terms
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Arsenal have now agreed personal terms with Madueke, who is understood to be open to the move, although that is not to say that he is actively pushing to leave Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano insists that this potential transfer is not close yet, but it is evident that Arsenal are making massive progress.
It has been claimed that Chelsea could demand as much as €58 million for Madueke, who currently boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €51.5m. He is still under contract until 2030.
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was drawn on the topic of Arsenal's interest in Madueke after the Blues' 2-1 win over Palmeiras at the Club World Cup. "Noni has been very important for us during this season," the Italian began.
"Today, again, he has been important. But my message to the players and to the club is that I want just players that are happy to be with us. The ones that are not happy, they are free to go. It's not for Noni, it's for all the players we have."
