Liverpool near Guehi signing as Romano confirms ‘very advanced’ talks over €35m deal

Liverpool appear to be closing in on Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, with Fabrizio Romano confirming ‘very advanced’ talks over a €35 million deal that would open the door for the move.
Football transfer news expert Romano says that Jarell Quansah is close to leaving Anfield to join Bayer Leverkusen in what promises to be the third major deal between the two giants this summer.
Jeremie Frimpong has already moved from the Bundesliga side to Anfield for €40 million while Florian Wirtz’s record-breaking switch is set to be made official in a matter of hours.
Romano says that Quansah is close to becoming the third player to jump between the teams this summer.
Taking to YouTube, he confirmed: “There is interest from Bayer Leverkusen which in the last 24 hours has become a concrete negotiation. Talks are ongoing and are in very advanced stages: £30m plus bonus.
“It’s OK from the player, personal terms are agreed. The centre-back was also on the list of Newcastle United, but Bayer Leverkusen got very good money for Jeremie Frimpong and Wirtz and will invest it in Quansah. The here we go is coming soon.”
Quansah is expected to sign a five-year deal with the 2023/24 Bundesliga champions, while it has been stressed that talks over this deal are unrelated to the Wirtz transfer.

Space created for Guehi
Quansah’s exit is set to open the door to Marc Guehi arriving at Liverpool from Crystal Palace, while the operation itself promises to provide Arne Slot’s side with excellent value.
The 22-year-old centre-back has impressed during his appearances but has struggled to seriously compete with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate for a starting role on Merseyside. As such, his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) sits at €26.2m. For Liverpool to receive €35m is, therefore, strong business.
The Telegraph reports that no concrete offer has been made for Guehi at this point, but it is noted that Tottenham Hotspur had an offer worth €82m (€65m upfront and €17m in bonuses) rejected by Palace in January, giving the Reds some idea of the outlay they need to make in order to force a deal through.
Liverpool have made strong progress in the transfer window, with Sky Sport Germany's Florian Plettenberg confirming that a full agreement has also been reached to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
