Liverpool AGREE €60m Quansah deal: Richard Hughes works his magic with Bayer Leverkusen

Liverpool centre-back Jarell Quansah’s move to Bayer Leverkusen has taken another significant step forward, with reports from German announcing that another major hurdle has been cleared to reach a transfer agreement.
Fabrizio Romano announced that only some minor details were required to make Quansah’s move to the Bundesliga giants permanent, and it appears that the clubs have reached an agreement on this front.
Vital details over the buy-back clause that Liverpool will have over the 22-year-old have emerged, with Kicker reporting the structure of the deal.

Leverkusen will pay an initial €30 million to sign Quansah, but there will be bonus payments on top of this figure. Given that the England U21 star has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €26.2m, this does not represent bad value for the German outfit.
The Reds, meanwhile, have been reticent to see Quansah leave. In order to protect themselves, Richard Hughes, the club’s sporting director, wanted a buy-back clause installed in any agreement.
To this end, it is reported that Liverpool have reached an agreement worth €60m to buy back the player – but only from 2027. Kicker adds: “This contract option made the move to Bayer possible in the first place.”
Jarell Quansah to Leverkusen: Liverpool strike deal that suits everyone
Quansah wanted to move to Leverkusen in order to earn more first-team football. The prospect of breaking into a Liverpool side with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate appears a distant one, despite the latter having so far refused a new contract at Anfield amidst reported interest from Real Madrid.
The Merseyside club, meanwhile, were unwilling to see him move to a Premier League club but also wanted a buy-back clause installed in any deal – something their rivals are unlikely to have accepted.
In sending Quansah to Leverkusen, Liverpool have therefore landed a major transfer windfall but have the opportunity to buy the promising youngster back in two years if he continues to flourish.
