Manchester United are serious about their interest in Burnley shot-stopper James Trafford, according to a report.

The Red Devils have had to alter their transfer plans following the disappointing performances of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir in recent months. Initially, Man Utd had not planned on replacing Onana this summer.

However, the Cameroon international's repeated howlers have seen Ruben Amorim lose his faith in the goalkeeper, and the Portuguese sent a clear message when he omitted Onana from Man Utd's final game of the season against Aston Villa.

No.2 Bayindir hasn't fared much better when given rare opportunities, and Man Utd are now seriously considering adding at least one new goalkeeper to their squad, perhaps even two.

Plenty of names have been linked with the Old Trafford club in recent weeks, including Torino's Vanja Milinkovic-Savic - who was already on the books at Man Utd a decade ago - Leicester's Mads Hermansen and Antwerp's Senne Lammens.

Man Utd want Trafford

Perhaps the most exciting name to be linked with the Red Devils is James Trafford. The 22-year-old is coming off an absolutely incredible season with Burnley, who have returned to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Trafford kept a scarcely believable 29 clean sheets in the bygone Championship season, conceding a measly 16 goals in 45 games. Unsurprisingly, the England youth international broke several records over the course of the campaign.

GIVEMESPORT has now confirmed that Man Utd hold a concrete interest in the Burnley shot-stopper and that they could look to make a move for him imminently.

They are far from the only side keen on him, however. Newcastle have been courting Trafford for months and, unlike Man Utd, they can offer Champions League football next season. Trafford currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €25.5 million.
