Manchester United reportedly have no intention of sacking Ruben Amorim this summer, even if they lose the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur later this month.

The 40-year-old has endured a torrid start to life in the Old Trafford dugout and a large section of supporters believe Amorim should be fired due to the Red Devils’ woeful form since his appointment back in November.

Man Utd are currently languishing down in 16th place in the Premier League table, having picked up six wins, six draws and an astounding 13 defeats during Amorim’s 25 English top flight matches in charge.

Amorim arrived at Old Trafford with a stellar reputation from Sporting CP, but his win rate in the English top flight stands at just 24% and Man Utd are guaranteed to end the season with their lowest points tally and finishing position in the Premier League era.

Despite this, the Man Utd hierarchy are set to back Amorim and he is expected to remain in charge next season, even if Tottenham win the Europa League final on 21 May.

That is according to The Guardian, who claim that INEOS believe Amorim deserves the upcoming summer transfer window to sign players who are better suited to his preferred 3-4-3 system.

Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha has been identified as a key signing by Amorim, as has Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, while Man Utd are also expected to sign a new wing-back, a new central midfielder and a new centre-back.

What has Ruben Amorim said?

Following his side’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham United on Sunday, which extended their winless run to seven Premier League matches, Amorim told reporters: “Everybody here has to think seriously about a lot of things. Everybody is thinking about the [Europa League] final. The final is not the issue. We have bigger things to think about.

“I'm talking about myself and the culture in the club and the culture in the team. We need to change that.”

He added: “It's a decisive moment in the history of the club. We need to be really strong in the summer and to be brave because we will not have a next season like this.

“If we start like this, if the feeling is still here, we should give the space to different people.”
