Joao Pedro: Chelsea make decision on signing €60m Brighton star

Chelsea will not sign Brighton forward Joao Pedro this summer, according to a report.
The Blues are once again in the market for attacking reinforcements and have been exploring several different potential options. For a long time, Liam Delap was viewed as their top target.
So far, Chelsea have not made a formal approach for the Ipswich striker, who is guaranteed to be on the move this summer. Surprisingly, the only team to have made a concrete offer are Everton.
Other names on Chelsea's shortlist are Hugo Ekitike, who could command as much as €100 million, Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko. In recent days, the name of Joao Pedro has been added to this list as well.
The Brazilian is looking to leave Brighton this summer in search of a new challenge and has attracted the attention of top clubs around England after two impressive seasons on the South Coast.
Chelsea not in Pedro race
Chelsea have been said to hold an interest in the 23-year-old, and some have even gone so far as to suggest that they are preparing a €60m opening offer for the Brighton man.
However, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are not in the race to sign Pedro, nor are they considering holding talks with him. Instead, he reports that Liverpool and Newcastle are showing an interest in the versatile forward.

Jacobs also confirmed that Pedro is indeed seeking a change of scenery this summer, although he made sure to emphasise that signing the Brazil international won't be cheap.
He was Brighton's record signing at the time of his transfer in 2023, joining from Watford in a €34.2m deal. The Seagulls are therefore looking to make a significant profit on him, with Fabrizio Romano previously stating that a €70m fee could do the trick.
