Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of reaching an agreement to sign Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha next summer.

The Netherlands U21 international enjoyed an eye-catching 2024-25 campaign under Liam Rosenior, scoring 14 goals in 27 Ligue 1 appearances, and he has been linked with a number of European clubs in recent months.

Chelsea are, however, leading the race for his signature, primarily due to the fact they are Strasbourg’s sister club, and they are now expected to sign the 22-year-old.

That is according to Foot Mercato, who claim that Chelsea have offered Emegha a six-year contract that will be valid until 2031.

He will remain with Strasbourg for another season, in order to further bolster his experience, before moving to Stamford Bridge next summer, with an agreement reportedly “just a matter of time.”

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that Chelsea are working on a pre-agreement deal for Emegha amid their pursuit of a new striker.

However, Romano has ruled out the possibility of the Dutchman moving to Chelsea this summer, meaning Enzo Maresca’s side may decide to purchase another striker in addition to Emegha.

Chelsea want a new striker

Chelsea are expected to bring a new centre forward to the club ahead of the 2025-26 campaign and they have identified a number of options as they look to improve the attacking options available to Enzo Maresca.

Liam Delap (Ipswich Town), Joao Pedro (Brighton & Hove Albion), Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig), Hugo Ekitike (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting CP) are under consideration by the Blues hierarchy, although they will face significant competition for all five players.

Victor Osimhen, who spent the season on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, is also a long-term target, but he appears to be on the verge of joining Al-Hilal, despite John Obi Mikel repeatedly stating that he wants to join Chelsea.
