Liverpool are preparing a €100 million bid for Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni.
Il Giorno reports that Liverpool have chosen Bastoni as the ideal heir to Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk is now 34 and has shown signs of decline while his centre back partner Ibrahima Konate has been error-prone this season.
Liverpool plan to make a big centre back signing at the end of the season, and Il Giorno report that Bastoni is their number on target.
Bastoni not for sale
However, the report states that Inter consider the 26-year-old not for sale at any price.
Instead, Inter plan to sign at least one centre back of their own at the end of the season.
Manchester City’s Nathan Ake, Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich), Mario Gila (Lazio), Oumar Solet (Udinese) and Tiago Gabriel (Lecce) are on their shortlist.
But there is no way they will entertain a sale for their star defender Bastoni, who has a contract until 2028 on €5.5 million per year.
The Italy international has established himself as one of the world’s best defenders over the past few years would be perfect to fulfil the role Arne Slot wants of a ball-playing and press-breaking centre back.
Bastoni is one of the best forward passers out of defence in the game, with pin-point short, medium and long-range passes. His trademark is his long, diagonal cross-field pass from left to right.
Bastoni boasts a glorious left foot and regularly pushes up into midfield or even further up the pitch towards the left wing to help construct attacks and create chances.
He is naturally suited to the left centre-back role in a back three, which is where he has played almost his entire career at Inter, but he can also play in the centre of the three.
Despite only being 26, Bastoni has over 300 appearances for club and country in his career, winning two Serie A titles, Euro 2020 and reaching two Champions League finals.
