Spanish publication Fichajes claim that Chelsea are willing to submit a €120 million offer to sign Leao next year after intensifying their pursuit of his signature in recent weeks.

It’s reported that Enzo Maresca has given his approval to the transfer, with the Stamford Bridge hierarchy keen to add further attacking reinforcements despite the arrivals of both Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho this summer.

Milan open contract talks for Rafa Leao

However, Matteo Moretto reveals on Fabrizio Romano's Italian YouTube channel that Milan have started contacts with the winger over a new contract.

His current contract expires in 2028 and Milan want to get his future sorted before the start of next season.

Milan are prepared to improve his salary and extend his deal, with Leao said to be keen on staying at San Siro.

Leao is happy again at Milan after a difficult last season where he went the entire campaign without scoring a home goal in Serie A.

He is in outstanding form currently, playing a leading role in taking Milan to just one point behind Serie A leaders Napoli.

On Sunday, Leao delivered a brilliant assist for Strahinja Pavlovic's winner in the 1-0 victory against Roma.

New manager Max Allegri has described Leao as having a touch of "genius" about him.

Leao joined Milan from Lille in 2019 and has scored 74 goals in 267 games.

Leao was Milan’s key player as they won their first Serie A title in 11 years in 2021-22. He was named Serie A Player of the Year, scoring 14 goals and grabbing 12 assists in all competitions.
