Chelsea HIJACK Barcelona talks for Colombia star
Chelsea have opened talks for Crystal Palace and Colombia star Daniel Munoz.
Respected Colombian journalist Julián Capera reports that Chelsea have made contact with Munoz's representatives over the possibility of signing the 29-year-old.
Talks are at a very early stage and are informal but Chelsea are very interested in the player.
This news comes as a blow for Barcelona, who have already been reported elsewhere to be in talks with Munoz ahead of a potential 2026 transfer.
Capera adds that PSG - as well as Barcelona - have also held talks for Munoz.
He says right now there is a three-way battle for the right back.
Munoz impresses at Crystal Palace
The Colombia international, 29, has developed into one of the best wing-backs in the Premier League since his move to Selhurst Park in January 2024 and his recent form has attracted significant interest from across Europe.
Chelsea want the 29-year-old, despite the fact that Enzo Maresca already has Reece James, Malo Gusto and Josh Acheampong as senior right-back options.
Barcelona see Munoz as a suitable back-up to Jules Kounde, and multiple reports in Spain have confirmed that Hansi Flick’s side are eager to finalise a deal in 2026.
PSG consider Munoz as an alternative to Achraf Hakimi, who recently suffered a serious injury.
It’s reported that Crystal Palace value Munoz at just €30 million.
Data analytics experts SciSports believe Munoz would become the fifth best player in the Chelsea first-team squad, behind only Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer, Jamie Gittens and Levi Colwill.
