Fabrizio Romano transfer news: CRUCIAL Ten Hag days, CRAZY Yamal bid, Reece James GUARANTEE
Fabrizio Romano has dropped transfer updates on Chelsea’s Reece James and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, while he has revealed how perilous Erik ten Hag’s position at Manchester United really is.
Dani Carvajal contract update
Romano revealed that Dani Carvajal is committed to spending the rest of his top-level career with Real Madrid and that contract talks are about to open on a one-year extension.
“What we can say about Dani Carvajal is that the feeling with Real Madrid is very good about the contract extension,” he told his YouTube channel. “Talks are set to start between Carvajal, his representatives and the Real Madrid board over a one-year contract but there is an intention to continue together.
“He wants to say there as long as possible. He’s leaving it in the club’s hands. Conversations are set to start. He’s sent a clear message: he only wants to play with Real Madrid in Europe.
“If he leaves and Real Madrid want to try a different right back, Carvajal has different options like MLS, Qatar, Saudi – not European clubs.”
Chelsea calm over James
Although there is a good deal of transfer speculation surrounding Reece James, Chelsea are planning on keeping the England right-back, with the focus of the Blues getting him up to full physical fitness.
“Reece James posted on his social media accounts saying he’s doing well. Obviously Chelsea staff don’t want to risk him with the international break, which will help him to keep working in the best conditions as soon as possible. Chelsea won’t take any risks,” Romano said.
“We keep having many stories about Reece James, about Real Madrid and other clubs. If Chelsea even wanted to consider the exit of him, they had the chance to do it in the past. They never wanted it.
“I can guarantee that the current management still rate him highly as a player, as a leader. They’re very happy with him and they love him.
“Everyone wants to see Reece James playing as regularly as possible.”
Crucial days for Ten Hag
Romano has clarified the position of Erik ten Hag at Manchester United – and it doesn’t make great reading for the Dutchman.
“It’s been a tense week for Erik ten Hag. The reality behind the scenes is that these two games – Porto and Aston Villa – will be really, really crucial for the future of Ten Hag,” the football transfer news reporter said. “Man Utd’s owners want to see a reaction in terms of results and in terms of performance. It’s important how the players will react. This is the crucial thing.
“Of course, Ten Hag remains optimistic and confident, and convinced what they’re doing at Man Utd, but it’s important to say that they want to see results and a reaction on the pitch. The attitude has to be different.”
PSG’s Lamine attack
Romano also confirmed an astonishing rumour about Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal – at least partly – and reaffirmed that the Catalan club have nothing to worry about.
“On Lamine, we’ve always got many stories and links,” he said.
“There was a strong story about PSG before the summer transfer window. I can confirm that PSG at some point this year – last season – when they understood Kylian Mbappe was going to leave the club for Real Madrid, they really thought about making a record bid for Lamine Yamal. More than €200m. They never sent this bid. It was not a bid, it was not even a proposal. Barcelona and the player didn’t even want to entertain talks with any club. But PSG considered it.
“It didn’t happen. Lamine is super happy at Barcelona. But the reality is that PSG really wanted to attack Lamine.
“Of course, 2025 is going to be an important year for Lamine Yamal, turning 18 in July. Time to sign his first big professional contract at Barcelona. It’s something they’ve been preparing for months. Now the terms have to change after the explosion of Lamine Yamal but he remains a crucial part of Barca’s project.”
